When you're staying at the Bushman's Desert Camp in the Namib-Naukluft desert, you should definitely go on an afternoon drive with the owner. His name is 'Boesman,' or 'Bushman,' a true desert legend. He lives here with his wife and children and has extensive experience in navigating the desert, his natural backyard. Living in pure simplicity, he’s always barefoot—more connected to nature.
During a three-hour drive through the desert, we stopped at various spots where he shared insights about the landscape. We learned about the dunes, the desert’s ecosystem, its wildlife, water sources, desert farming, and the Bushmen.
He offered a unique perspective, sharing life lessons and tips on how to survive if we ever found ourselves stranded in the desert. It was original and incredibly fascinating.
