Nestled in the charming village of Eggares, the olive museum offers a delightful dive into the rich history of olive oil production on Naxos.
The museum, tiny but with a big heart, is housed in a beautifully restored olive press, where you can see original machinery and tools used for olive oil production. The exhibits, together with the stories shared by the local guide and heiress of the olive press, illustrate the painstaking process of transforming olives into the liquid gold that has been a staple of Greek cuisine and culture for centuries.
A visit is not complete without a stop in the gift shop to taste the many different varieties of olive oils, as well as other local produce like tapenades and bread. The perfect place to buy some small gifts and souvenirs.
