Pool-side relaxation, Kutaisi and wine tasting
A well-deserved day to relax by the pool after our long hike, explore the city of Kutaisi and discover local wines in the birth country of wine.
Pool-side relaxation
After 3 days of hiking it was time to take a little rest and what better place to do so than at Chateau Vartsikhe. We stayed in a 4-sleeper cabin in the woods, enjoyed a morning coffee with views over the vineyards from the restaurant and spent the rest of the morning poolside, reading a book.

Time to explore the city of Kutaisi.
We spent the afternoon strolling around Kutaisi, getting to know the city. We wandered around the Green Bazaar, checking out all the food on display and connecting with some locals (human and feline alike), came across the White Bridge and past the Wall of love street art.

Wine and dine
Did you know Georgia is the birth country of wine? Enough reason to schedule in a visit to a local vineyard! After some research we chose to visit Baia's wine, a small, yet rapidly growing family business. The proud matriarch of the household gave us a tour around the property, explaining how their wine is made according to traditional methods, after which we were treated to a delicious buffet of local food , accompanied by 4 bottles of wine to taste. A great night!
